Wilkommen to the NEW www.pcs.org!
In honor of our 20th season bringing you the best theater performances in Portland, PCS will soon reveal our shift to web 2.0. If you’ve never heard of web 2.0, here’s an interesting video on YouTube that sums it up nicely.

In a nutshell, it’s about a world wide web that invites everyone to participate in defining, refining, shaping and creating its content and message on an ongoing basis. In contrast to the more static sites of years past, many commercial and non-commercial sites are providing more opportunities for visitors to stay, play and leave their mark. Portland Center Stage is your local theater company and pcs.org is now, more than ever, your local theater website. Here are a few things you can do now that you never could before!

Comment on staff blogs Track PCS blogs by author, production, season or any of a host of other tags (keywords) and post comments based on the entries. Whether you have a question or want to share an opinion, feel free to comment. You can even respond to the blog entries of our Artistic Director, Chris Coleman.

Vote in Online Polls Throughout the season new polls will show up and some will go away. Please return to the site often to vote in all our online polls. Some are meant just for fun, but others will help us provide the best service we can to you, the Portland theater family.

Post your own Reviews! That’s right, you won’t have to wait for the Sunday or Wednesday paper to read what professional critics thought of the show, post your own review as soon as you get home and read reviews from your fellow theater enthusiasts throughout the run of a show. It’s a great way to bring extra attention to how our performances affect you and to spark conversations about them with people you otherwise might never meet.

And we’re not planning on stopping there. Keep your eyes on the new site for ongoing changes; constantly changing blog topics, new featured images, and endless interactive shenanigans to remind you that you are a vital part of the art we create!

In Thanks to Joe
Operations Manager Joe Visnic, otherwise known as “the guy who gets things done,” has been even more busy than usual recently, working to make your time at the Gerding Theater at the Armory better in ways you may or may not have even thought about. Two projects in particular will have a direct impact on audiences in the Main Stage, particularly those seated on the Mezzanine.

Some of you reported having a hard time with the sight lines from the Mezzanine last season. Joe was on the case this summer making sure this got attended to. Both of the rows have been moved forward several inches and all the seat backs have been adjusted slightly to optimize your view of the stage from those premium seats.

Just last week, Joe could be found in the third floor PCS/Bruce Carey Canteen- not cooking, mind you, but installing new rubber flooring to quiet the heavy footsteps of the hard-working PCS staff, which some of you mentioned having heard above your heads during matinee performances last season.

Thanks for being forthcoming with the feedback and giving us the opportunity to make your theater experience more enjoyable than ever this year. BIG THANKS to Joe and his partner on both of these projects, Rylan Sorenson!

New Theater Blog at Oregon Live
Kelly Johnson, Marketing Manager for OregonLive, recently asked yours truly to contribute to a new blog space about theater in Portland. Heck, I guess I felt so flattered that someone was asking me to blog for them and so excited that Theater was getting a new place to hawk its wares, that I didn’t think twice about it. As it turns out, she’s assembled a great group of theater-related pontificators to contribute regularly and you’re cordially invited to take pot shots at us…er…comment on our posts.

If I say much more, I won’t have anything to post about so, here’s the link…check it out.
