Money Makes the World Go 'Round

Portland Center Stage is excited to announce that the Regional Arts and Culture Council is continuing its support of PCS into the coming year and expanding that support as well. This year’s grant totals $71,125 and includes over $11,000 from the RACC Work for Art program which enables people in a plethora of greater Portland workplaces to make pre-tax contributions to Art and Culture directly from their paychecks. Are you participating in Work for Art? Ask your employer about it. A Work for Art representative would be happy to meet with your company’s HR professional to tell them all about it. For more information call 503 823-5424 or visit workforart.org.

Also exciting on the grant news front is the biggest gift Portland Center Stage has ever received from the Oregon Cultural Trust. For 2007-2008, PCS was awarded $10,000 for new play development programs including the JAW festival-PlayGroup, workshops and public readings. In case you didn’t know, if you make a donation to Portland Center Stage and a donation of equal amount to the Oregon Cultural Trust, your gift to the Trust qualifies you for an Oregon State TAX CREDIT (even better than a deduction) in the amount you donate to the Trust. As the Trust grows, PCS and other institutions of culture throughout the state will continue to benefit from greater and greater support that all begins with the citizens of our great state! For more information, contact the OCT at 503 986-0088 or culturaltrust.org.

Finally we want to acknowledge and thank The Kinsman Foundation for its generous support of 2007’s JAW: A Playwrights Festival. The foundation’s increased grant made it possible for PCS to offer all of the readings and events at this year’s festival free of charge.
