Summer School Report

As Fall sets in, PCS looks back on our first summer theater camp for kids with warm hearts and a strong sense of accomplishment. Two two-week sessions and a special one-week teen acting intensive were offered this year where young people from 6 - 17 participated in classes, workshops, discussions and acting exercises. At the end of each session, campers performed short plays of their own creation, using all the tools they had learned and skills they had developed together. These performances were both heartwarming and hilarious, and some of the parents, who were invited to attend the performances, even shed tears of pride and joy at the art their children were creating.

Most importantly, the campers themselves seemed thrilled with their experiences. One teen camper, Billy Cowles, took the time to send his words of appreciation back to us.

“One thing I enjoyed was just getting to spend time with kids who are like me and who are interested in what I'm interested in. I was also amazed at how excellent the teachers were. They were very professional and they always had a lesson planned. The topics that they covered were all very valuable to me. It also seemed that they were very good at picking activities and exercises that really got the information across, and made it stick with me. I know that I will be able to use what I learned at the GreenHouse Teen Camp for the rest of my acting career.

Education Manager Kelsey Tyler is already looking forward to next summer and planning all sorts of new theatrical adventures for the thespians of tomorrow.
