Rose Will See You Now: An Audition Workshop with Casting Director Rose Riordan
This nuts-and-bolts workshop will boost your confidence regarding the hardest part of being an actor: the audition. As an on-your-feet, practical intensive, you will work with your current audition pieces to gain perspective on what a casting director really sees when you perform — and what s/he really hopes to see. Come prepared with four short monologues (one minute in length max for each one) and expect to gain insight into your personal presentation, as well as to breathe new life into your favorite audition pieces. Space limited.
Instructor: In her 12th season at Portland Center Stage, Rose Riordan is directing The Underpants and Doubt, A Parable. Previously at PCS she has directed The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh and Adam Bock’s The Thugs, which won four Drammy Awards, including Outstanding Ensemble and Outstanding Direction. A theater gypsy, she has been an actress, writer, producer and director and has directed plays in Alaska, Seattle, Miami and New York prior to landing in Portland, which she officially calls home. In addition to serving as PCS’s casting director, Rose is the company’s Associate Artistic Director. Workshop date: Saturday, November 24, 12:00pm to 6:30pm, including one half-hour break.
Tuition: $125
