PCS Welcomes our Newest Neighbor:
The Museum of Contemporary Craft Re-Opening on July 22nd
Portland Center Stage extends a warm welcome to our newest artistic neighbor, The Museum of Contemporary Craft. The Museum re-opens its doors in its new location at 724 Northwest Davis with a block party on July 22. From noon to 5pm that day, all sorts of events, including live music and a beer garden are planned for the North Park Blocks celebration. It would make a great stop on your way to the FREE public readings at JAW the very same day. Come on down and make a summer day of it in Northwest Portland!

Coming Soon to the Gerding Theater at the Armory:
Mercy Corps Benefit Concert Series to Alleviate Crisis in Uganda
Responding to what is perhaps the longest-overlooked and most critical crisis in Africa, Mercy Corps has initiated plans to orchestrate the world’s largest Humanitarian Concert Series to help families in Uganda repair their lives and restore their culture. Portland Center Stage is honored to participate by donating Main Stage space for at least one of the events planned in the series.
The Crisis:
From the Mercy Corps website: “Over the past two decades, Uganda's civil war has forced hundreds of thousands of families to flee their homes and way of life.
A brutal conflict between the rebel Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and Ugandan forces has raged in northern Uganda for two decades, displacing nearly two million people and condemning a generation to life in cramped, squalid camps. As peace talks continue, we need to find ways to return Acholi families to suitable homes, as well as restoring their way of life.”
The Concert Series:
October 9 – November 17: 40 Days for Uganda. POVA, McMenamin’s and Portland Center Stage have all signed on to support Mercy Corps in this, just one of many efforts that are part of their “Voices for Silent Disasters” initiative. A wide variety of musical acts have also signed on for the series, including Storm Large, Stolen Sweets, Dirty Martini, Jackstraw, Liv Warfield, March Fourth Marching Band and Wade McCollum and the cast of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, among many other talented performers.
